Wafer check valves are swing check valves in function but differ in their thin, wafer style profile. In plumbing valves, the wafer check valve is one of the smallest, most compact and lightweight PVC valve types available. Their unique streamlined design reduces total valve footprint and makes for easier integration into various plumbing systems, constrained locations and other hard-to-access areas. The wafer check valve has been designed for in-line installation to control media flow in a single direction only by effectively restricting the ability for plumbing back flow. This PVC / CPVC valve type is engineered as a flat disc with hinges and a seal seat. This hinged design allows wafer valves to be pushed open by positive flow but then seal shut when the fluid flow stops or when negative flow pressure is encountered in the opposite direction. Wafer check valves are also called one way valves, non return valves, clack valves, dual plate valves and reflux valves. This valve type is acceptable for installation in either horizontal or vertical plumbing systems.
Our wafer check valves are molded from high quality PVC or CPVC provided by USA manufacturers Hayward and Cepex. As plumbing materials, PVC and CPVC are durable thermoplastics that resist corrosion from weather, soil and many industry chemicals, making these valves suitable for a wide range of applications. We offer wafer check valves in plumbing sizes from 2 inches up to 14 inches in diameter. Wafer check valves are intended for ANSI 150 and PN10 flange type connections. No specialty flanges are needed, and spacers are only recommended when matching to schedule 80 pipe. Disc springs are available in 316 stainless steel or Hastelloy and are ideal for increasing valve closure strength with more viscous fluids. Valve seat seals are offered in EPDM, FPM (Viton) or PTFE (Teflon) O-rings to match compatibility across specific liquid handling needs. Complete valve production materials meet ASTM D1784, ANSI NSF 61 and 372 standards as lead free plumbing approved for use in potable water systems.
