Schedule 80 CPVC caps are used to close the open end of a Schedule 80 CPVC pipe. They are designed to effectively create a closed system and provide a watertight seal to prevent liquid loss or contamination from external sources. CPVC cap fittings are used to pressure test plumbing systems and to temporarily or permanently terminate pipelines. Temporary closure is often needed during construction or advanced preparations for expansion. Permanent closure is often needed when excess piping is present and will not be needed often due to branching and other network connections.

CPVC Schedule 80 caps are available in a range of sizes and are made from Chlorinated Polyvinyl Chloride material. CPVC is known for its chemical resistance and temperature range approved for liquids up to 200°F (93°C). Schedule 80 CPVC caps have thicker pipe walls compared to Schedule 40 fittings. The extra thickness allows the caps to be used in higher pressure applications. Heavy duty cap fittings can handle higher temperatures, higher working pressures, and various types of aggressive media. These attributes make Sch 80 CPVC caps suitable for many industrial, commercial, and manufacturing applications and work settings.

Sch 80 CPVC Cap Sizes and Options

Sch 80 CPVC caps are available in sizes ranging from 1/4” to 6” in diameter. Large CPVC caps in 10” and 12” diameter sizes Quality and Safety Standards. Sch 80 CPVC caps have either a socket end or a female pipe threaded (FPT) end. CPVC socket caps feature a slip style connection for making solvent weld joints using CPVC primer and glue. CPVC threaded caps feature a female thread connection for making twist-tight joints with male threaded pipe or components. Thread tape is recommended for threaded connections.

Quality and Safety Standards

Our Schedule 80 CPVC cap fittings are made in the USA. They are precision engineered by top American manufacturers. Our heavy duty CPVC caps are designed, tested, and certified to meet or exceed modern industry standards set in place that cover product specs, material quality, performance, and connection reliability. Schedule 80 CPVC caps meet ASTM D1784, ASTM F437, ASTM F439 standards for pipe and plumbing components. They are NSF certified and approved safe for potable water applications and freshwater systems.

Thermoplastic CPVC is naturally compatible and resistant to many chemicals, materials, and ingredients commonly used across industrial, manufacturing, and commercial applications. Chemical compatibility should always be verified before installing and using any plumbing lines for chemical conveyance systems.

Applications and Uses

Schedule 80 CPVC caps are used in a variety of plumbing situations and liquid conveyance systems. Heavy duty CPVC caps are primarily used when higher temperatures and max PSI pressure are needed as well as when select chemical compatibility with CPVC pipe is required. General uses include:

  • Terminating Lines: The most basic function is to cap the end of a pipe to prevent the flow, release, and loss of the conveyance liquid
  • Temporary Closure: Caps can be used to temporarily seal a line during construction or repairs until further work is completed
  • Pressure Testing: Caps help isolate sections of a plumbing system to check for leaks during pressure testing
  • System Expansion: Capped lines can be left in place to allow for future expansion points within the plumbing system

Due to their temperature rating and chemical resistance, Schedule 80 CPVC caps are commonly used in industrial plumbing applications to handle chemicals such as acids and bases, process fluids, solvents, and alcohols. Heavy duty CPVC caps are used in chemical processing plants to handle plumbing networks distributing aggressive chemicals and hot corrosive liquids. Schedule 80 CPVC caps are also often used in wastewater treatment and handling wastewater, hot water systems, aquariums, and aquatic facilities.
