DWV plugs are used to plug the end of a line by threading into another DWV fitting. Plugs are normally used as a cleanout application within a Tee fitting.

DWV plugs are PVC fittings used to temporarily or permanently close off the end of a DWV pipe or fitting. They are designed specifically for drain, waste, and vent (DWV) plumbing systems. PVC DWV plugs have male threaded connections for use with female pipe ends. Threaded connections provide easy installation and easy removal. DWV plugs are used as part of structural sanitary systems and vent lines within constructions for residential, commercial, and industrial buildings. They provide an access point, seal unused sections, serve as a temporary closure to protect plumbing, or when performing test runs. DWV cleanout plugs allow the interior of the pipeline to be accessed when needed for maintenance or inspection without having to disassemble multiple components. In new constructions, DWV plugs are used to keep out dust, debris, and pests. As DWV test plugs, the fittings are used to isolate sections to ensure the system is operating properly and without leaks.

DWV plug types include raised nut cleanout plugs and flush cleanout plugs. Raised nut DWV cleanout plugs have a prominent nut for tightening and removal. Flush cleanout plugs are flat with a recessed tool access ideal for limited space installations. DWV cleanout plugs are often used with cleanout fittings, such as DWV tees and adapters.

Features and Benefits

Our DWV plumbing system plugs are a cost effective, durable, and easy-to-install solution for designing, protecting, or testing DWV systems.

  • PVC Material: Made from industrial grade PVC plastic that provides corrosion resistance, chemical durability, low weight, long term service, low cost, and minimal maintenance.
  • Hard Working: Built to withstand the hard working conditions and media common to DWV systems.
  • Secure Closure: Precision engineered to provide a reliable, leakproof, watertight seal.
  • Multiple Options: Raised nut and flush DWV plugs to match project needs.
  • Sizes: Available in standard sizes from 1-1/2ʺ to 8ʺ and flush sizes from 2ʺ to 4ʺ in diameter.
  • Connections: DWV plugs come in male pipe thread (MPT) connections.

Quality and Safety Standards

Our DWV plug fittings are made in the USA by one of the nation’s top plumbing manufacturers. They are manufactured using ASTM D1784 Cell Class 12454 PVC material for high quality, strength, and reliability. They are approved to ASTM D2665 and ASTM 3311 standards for plastic drain, waste, vent fittings, ensuring they are made to meet the versatile demands of DWV applications. Our DWV cleanout plugs are NSF listed and certified to the Uniform Plumbing Code (UPC) for structural waste handling and ventilation systems.

DWV PVC is a heavy duty thermoplastic with excellent resistance to environmental damage, rust, and corrosion from acids, alkalis, oils, inorganic solutions, fumes, and vapors. DWV pipe plug fittings are rated for temperatures up to 140°F (60°C) and have a minimum temperature of 32°F (0°C) for water-based pipe networks. Always verify chemical compatibility prior to use.

Applications and Uses

PVC DWV plugs are widely used in residential, commercial, and industrial buildings and work processes. Cleanout plugs are commonly used to provide an access point for inspecting, rodding, or snaking the DWV system and are often installed at fixtures such as sinks. They are used to temporarily seal off pipes or fittings during construction or maintenance to prevent dust, debris, and other foreign objects from entering the plumbing system. DWV plugs are used to seal off plumbing sections to allow testing to identify leaks or weaknesses that could lead to failure or improper operation.

Our DWV plugs are a leading choice in quality and performance. They are precision built for the hardworking demands of drain, waste, and vent plumbing systems and comply with local building codes for DWV installations. By adhering to the highest standards and using premium materials, our products are engineered to meet and exceed expectations. For more information or details on contractor pricing, contact us.
