Bulkhead fittings are used in applications where tank to pipe connection is needed. The bulkhead is secured in the tank and then pipe is fastened to the bulkhead. CPVC Bulkheads are durable schedule 80 CPVC fittings that are made for high-pressure tank applications with more aggressive chemicals. Bulkhead fittings are most commonly used in water treatment plants, chemical processing, food and beverage, theme parks, aquariums, pulp and paper, marine and corrosive environments, metal plating and finishing applications. CPVC bulkhead can handle temperatures up to 200 degrees F. CPVC bulkheads are manufactured with socket to thread and thread-to-thread connections to fit any tank application that you may have. We stock bulkheads that range in size from ½” to 4” in the socket by thread and thread-by-thread options.

Schedule 80 CPVC bulkheads are specialized fittings used to create a strong, leak proof connection when pipes or liquids need to pass through the walls of tanks, containers, or other structures. CPVC bulkheads are also known as through wall fittings, tank bulkheads, and industrial bulkheads. CPVC bulkheads are used to make a secure access point for plumbing connections and liquid release, often through the wall of a storage vessel. They are used to handle hot liquids, corrosive media, harsh chemicals, mixtures and solutions, ingredients, wastewater and waste solutions, and potable water.

Schedule 80 CPVC bulkheads are made from Chlorinated Polyvinyl Chloride (CPVC), a type of thermoplastic with excellent chemical resistance and tolerance to high temperatures that is suitable for a wide range of demanding applications. They are rated to handle temperatures up to 200°F (93°C). CPVC bulkheads are made to Schedule 80 wall thickness for stronger fittings that are approved for higher liquid pressures and applications with the potential for stress and impact.

In plumbing systems and applications that require resistance to temperature, pressure, and chemicals, CPVC bulkheads are designed to prevent leaks and ensure the proper flow of fluids. They are commonly used in industrial settings, chemical processing plants, water treatment facilities, agriculture, aquaculture, and aquarium plumbing systems.

Sch 80 CPVC Bulkhead Sizes and Options

Sch 80 CPVC bulkhead sizes range from 1/2" to 4” in plumbing diameter. CPVC bulkheads come with a socket to thread connection. Bulkheads have a hollow pattern barrel, a body flange, a gasket, a threaded end, a socket end, buttress threads, and a tightening nut. Standard gasket options include EPDM and Viton (FPM/FKM).

The interior part of the bulkhead has a smooth socket end for solvent weld fitting to a CPVC Schedule 80 pipe. The exterior bulkhead has a female NPT thread end to mate with a matching male NPT thread component. The bulkhead flange sits against the outside of the tank with a gasket to ensure a watertight connection between the fitting hole and the bulkhead. The large hexagonal nut tightens over the fitting to compress the flange and gasket against the tank wall to create the seal and keep the bulkhead in place.

Quality and Safety Standards

Our Schedule 80 CPVC bulkheads are US made by leading North American manufacturers. The fittings are engineered, tested, and certified to meet or exceed strict industry standards and requirements. They are made using modern manufacturing practices and premium grade material to ensure purity, precision, technical performance specifications, and long service reliability. Our industrial bulkhead fittings meet ASTM D1784 standards and are ANSI/NSF 61 and ANSI/NSF 372 certified as safe for freshwater use and potable water systems.

CPVC is resistant to many chemicals, materials, and ingredients commonly used across industrial, manufacturing, and commercial applications. Chemical compatibility should always be verified before installing and using any plumbing lines for chemical conveyance systems.

Applications and Uses

Schedule 80 CPVC bulkheads are used in plumbing systems where reliable service, chemical resistance, and temperature tolerance are required. They have the chemical compatibility to handle a wide range of chemicals and solutions used in industrial systems, manufacturing plants, chemical processing, water and wastewater treatment, agriculture, hydroponics, aquaculture, and large aquariums. CPVC through-wall fittings can be used to handle the high temperatures and water pressure necessary in hot water lines and chemical processing applications.

Schedule 80 CPVC bulkheads are frequently used in industrial plumbing systems to provide secure containment and flow control in facilities that handle corrosive chemicals or high temperature fluids. They are used in various commercial settings such as manufacturing plants, processing facilities, and chemical storage areas to connect bulk storage tanks to liquid supply lines. CPVC bulkheads are installed in aquaculture, aquaponics, and aquarium plumbing systems to provide long lasting, reliable connections between pumps, valves, filters, and overflow lines to tanks for water circulation, filtration, and drainage.

CPVC bulkheads are additionally used in challenging mechanical engineering applications for water/wastewater treatment facilities and municipal operations in pump assemblies, chemical injection systems, and distribution piping where high pressures and chemical durability are required.
