PVC Duct Rain Caps

PVC duct rain caps are specialized fittings made to protect the termination points of ventilation, exhaust, or duct systems. The caps are primarily used to prevent rain, snow, debris, and animals from entering vent stacks and relief pipes of ductwork systems while still allowing gasses, fumes, or air to be expelled from the system. PVC duct rain caps come in two types, commonly referred to as Style A and Style B. Style A rain caps have a wide, sloped brim that covers the open end of a rooftop duct pipe and are designed to shed precipitation more effectively. Style B rain caps have a narrow top design and are often used in applications where a smaller profile is required. PVC duct rain caps are used to protect indoor environments and internal duct pipes from moisture and blockages that can cause damage, loss of operation, or potential health risks due to buildup of debris or animal activity. These ductwork rain caps are made from polyvinyl chloride (PVC) plastic and are lightweight with long lasting durability and resistance to weathering, rust, and chemical corrosion. While blocking the entry of unwanted elements, rain caps are designed to allow air to freely flow out of the duct for proper ventilation and release of moisture, fumes, or gasses.

These are USA made PVC duct fittings built by Harrison Machine and Plastic under the trade name SUPERDUCT®, one of the nation’s top manufacturers and brands of thermoplastic ductwork. SUPERDUCT® rain caps are to be used with air and compatible gaseous media in open air, non-pressurized applications only. They are not for use in pressure systems, with liquids, or with known incompatible chemicals. Always verify chemical compatibility prior to use.

PVC Duct Rain Cap Sizes and Options

PVC duct rain cap sizes range from 2″ up to 34″ in Iron Pipe Size (IPS) diameter. The fittings come with a belled end socket type connection joint. For installation, recommendations are to use professional PVC primer and solvent cement for rain caps up to 14″ in size and hot air welding on rain caps larger than 14″ in size.

Applications and Uses

Common applications and uses for PVC duct rain caps include both residential and commercial HVAC systems, in exhaust ducts serving dryers, kitchen fans, bathroom vents, and structural ventilation processes. In industrial environments, rain caps shield vent stacks that handle fumes, dust, or other airborne contaminants produced from onsite activities. In chemical processing plants, manufacturing facilities, laboratories, food and beverage production plants, and power plants, rain caps safeguard sensitive, critical ductwork systems from external elements that could interfere with normal system operation or the quality of onsite processes.

Harrison PVC SUPERDUCT® rain caps are a leading choice in quality and performance, trusted by professionals for decades. They are precision engineered to deliver the reliable, long lasting service that ductwork systems require. Manufactured to the highest standards from premium materials, our ductwork pipe supplies are made to exceed requirements. For more information or details on contractor pricing, contact us.
