Geared butterfly valves are standard butterfly valves with an additional gear, shaft and spigot style handle system that delivers optimal flow regulation and valve operation. The geared butterfly valve is engineered with a heavy duty seat, disk (or flap) and gearing mechanism for reliable, resilient and powerful performance. Gear butterfly valves are ideal for use in high throughput, high stress applications due to their ability to withstand working pressures and reduce operation strain. Their built in gear and handle system makes these valves easier to operate and best suited for larger diameter pipe scenarios over other valves. They are designed to require limited turns to become fully open or fully closed. These plumbing valve types are used to isolate piping runs, provide on / off fluid flow and control rate throttling and regulation.
We provide geared butterfly valves produced in the US by North America’s leading manufacturers. These valves are made from high quality PVC or CPVC according to ASTM, ISO, ANSI and NSF standards to suit today’s demanding applications. PVC is made per ASTM D1784 Cell Class 12454. CPVC is made per ASTM D1784 Cell Class 23447. Top flange and stem drive meet ISO 5211. All valve diameter sizes meet ANSI B16.10 and ISO 5752.
Geared butterfly valves are available in sizes from 2” up to 14” and rated up to 150 PSI at 70 ˚F working pressure and temperature. They require flange type installation and connection. Valve discs are made from PVC, CPVC or polypropylene. Valve seats are available in EPDM, Viton or Nitrile. Stems from disc to actuator are 316 stainless steel. All materials used in manufacture meet NSF and ANSI 61, 51 certification for potable water use and lead free pipe.
