Hayward Y-Strainers are used to protect piping system components and materials from damage caused by dirt or debris in the process media. Y Strainers filter out unwanted materials as media flows through a filtration screen inside the Y Strainer. The Y Strainer model costs less than other pipework strainer types and is lightweight and compact. Because they can often be supported by the pipeline alone, they can be installed and work in applications where other strainers cannot. Hayward Y-Strainers are professional grade, all plastic Y Strainers engineered for horizontal and vertical installation within in-line or loop style plumbing systems. They feature a flow direction indicator, a 2:1 open area ratio and a hex style screw cap that provides easy access to the screen chamber when needed for cleaning and maintenance.
Available Hayward Y-Strainers come in PVC Y Strainer, clear PVC Y Strainer, CPVC Y Strainer and PVDF Y Strainer models. All Y-Strainers have an FPM o-ring seal and are assembled with silicone free lubricant. Installation sizes come in 1/2", 3/4", 1", 1 1/4", 1 1/2", 2", 2 1/2", 3" and 4" plumbing diameters. Each Y Strainer comes standard with one 1/32" perforated strainer basket made from all plastic materials with PVC, CPVC or PP available. PVDF Y Strainers come with one 3/32" strainer basket, with all plastic PVDF or PTFE materials available. Stainless steel perforated or mesh strainer screens are also available in various screen and mesh sizes.
