The Model 50 is an Eaton brand industrial grade double basket strainer manufactured from durable, top quality materials using dependable and renowned Eaton® engineering. The Eaton® Model 50 is a USA industry standard in duplex strainers and is well suited to meet and exceed the needs of an extensive list of approved work applications. Eaton's® basket strainers are American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) certified for marine / maritime usage scenarios. As an Eaton brand duplex strainer, the Model 50 is designed for both pressure and suction installations in continuous flow type operations where pipelines cannot tolerate temporary shutdown for maintenance due to restrictions in the application. The Model 50 Eaton® strainer is a pressure rated plug valve with integrated straining baskets made for simple filtration, straightforward use and streamlined cleaning. Flow is switched from one chamber to the other with a 90° turn of the plug valve handle and collectively takes less than 30 seconds to accomplish from start to finish. Integral stops engineered into the strainer valve make proper plug positioning error free every time. No tools are required to switch flow or to open strainer chambers for filter basket access and cleaning.

The Model 50 Eaton® strainer is available in cast iron, bronze, carbon steel and stainless steel body options. Prices range from $13,809 up to $56,279. The Model 50 comes as a flanged unit in size options 5", 6" and 8" in working plumbing diameter. The working pressure of the unit is 200 PSI (13.8 BAR) at 100°F (38°C) for 5" and 6" strainers and 150 PSI (10.3 BAR) at 100°F (38°C) for the 8" strainer. Gasket O-ring seals are Buna-N type standard, with Viton standard on stainless steel models and with options for EPDM and encapsulated PTFE (Teflon™) available. Strainer filter baskets come standard in stainless steel with choice of either perforated or mesh style screens. Perforated screen sizes range from 1/32" up to 1/2" and mesh screens range from 20 mesh to 400 mesh sizes.

When selecting basket screen style or sizes, a general rule of thumb is to select a strainer size slightly smaller than the smallest particle anticipated within the system to capture. Increasing size values of perforation style baskets indicates a greater flow area that is better suited to catching larger particles. Increasing values on mesh style baskets indicates more wire per inch and therefore a smaller pore width that is better suited for catching smaller, more fine particles.
